A Message from the Executive Director

Update on the Future of Film Digital Cinema effort—thank you Olympia Federal Savings!

A big thank you goes out to our friends at Oly Fed this month.  They recently announced that they will be donating $2,500 to help OFS acquire digital cinema.  Next time you stop by, be sure to let them know how much you appreciate their support!

As of mid-June we are now approaching $20,000 for this important new equipment.  If you have not heard already, theaters are being forced to upgrade to digital cinema servers as film companies phase out traditional 35mm film prints.  Not being able to do so would threaten the films available to show daily, our ability to operate the Capitol Theater, and in turn our financial impact on the local economy.  We need your help now, as we expect to need more than $40,000 to complete this project.

At the moment, OFS is driven by over 1,350 members annually.  With that in mind, if 1,350 people gave us $30 (the equivalent of an additional Individual membership this year), we could most likely fund the entire balance of this critical upgrade.  Whether you reading this as a OFS member or a general community member, please go to our website or mail in a gift today.

*OFS is hiring two positions to help coordinate this year’s film festival:  Film Festival Administrative Coordinator & Film Festival Booking Coordinator.
