ENCORE SCREENING: THE TASTE OF THINGS

May 7, 2024
The Taste of Things
Set in France in 1889, the film follows the life of Dodin Bouffant (Benoit Magimel) as a chef living with his personal cook and lover Eugénie (Juliette Binoche). They share a long history of gastronomy and love but Eugénie refuses to marry Dodin, so the food lover decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her.
Dir: Tran Anh Hung / 2023 / French with English subtitles / 134 min

“The Taste of Things is essentially a love letter to food and cooking; to what it feels like to sip a soup that is reminiscent of a sonata’s development; to the sensual nature of food; to the simple joy of making something side-by-side with a loved one.” – Moira MacDonald, Seattle Times

“You’d swear that you could smell, touch and, yes, taste the meals that are being prepared on screen before you. It’s like an epicurean magic trick.” – David Fear, Rolling Stone

“Do not see The Taste of Things on an empty stomach. It’s a French film about gourmet French cuisine, magnificently photographed and meticulously prepared for both the camera and the palate, and raised to the status of art as only the French can.” – Rex Reed, Observer

SCREENING: SUN 4/7 4PM

Tickets are available at the box office 30 minutes before showtimes.
