Actor Mads Mikkelsen (TV’s Hannibal) won the best actor award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival for his role in The Hunt, a disturbing story of an innocent man accused of a terrible deed. Lucas is a high school teacher who has been laid off and takes a job at a daycare center. He is good with kids, content with the parents, and an all-around valuable employee. That is, until the day a child accuse
him of a heinous act. The problem is he didn’t do it. Out to prove his innocence, Lucas endures a humiliating investigation in order to
verify that he did nothing wrong. By the time that the case is finally dismissed, the damage has already been done. Now a pariah in the small town where he lives, Lucas finds himself persecuted—the victim of a misguided, modern day witch-hunt—for a crime that he did not commit. Betsy Sharkey of The Los Angeles Times calls The Hunt “a hauntingly nuanced and riveting drama.”
