MONSTER

January 18 – 25, 2024
Monster
Monster is the latest film from acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-Eda (Broker, Shoplifters), winning Best Screenplay and Queer Palm awards at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and features music by Oscar-winning composer Ryuichi Sakamoto. When her young son Minato (Soya Kurokawa) starts to behave strangely, his mother Saori (Sakura Ando) feels that there is something wrong. Discovering that his teacher Hori (Eita Nagayama) is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what’s going on. But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher and child, the truth is more complex than expected.
Dir: Hirokazu Kore-Eda / 2023 / Japan / 126 min

“Monster is one of the finest films of the year.” – Natalia Winkelman, New York Times

“Monster is another striking piece of work from a master, a movie that’s so carefully calibrated that you get lost in these characters, forgetting they’re performers and not people caught up in a genuinely traumatic chapter of life.” – Brian Tallerico, RogerEbert.com

SCREENING: THU 1/18 7PM; FRI 1/19 4PM; SUN 1/21 7PM; THU 1/25 4PM

Tickets are available at the box office 30 minutes before showtimes.
