LOVING

December 30 – January 5
LOVING

In 1958 Mildred and Richard Loving were arrested in Virginia, the only reason being that he was white and she was black. Director Jeff Nichols’ (Mud, Midnight Special) dramatic and illuminating film Loving is an in-depth account of their relationship, which was pivotal in the supreme court’s 1967 ruling to legalize interracial marriage. A historical document that feels as personal, as it is informative, Loving is a humanistic story that highlights the couple’s intimate connection that gave them the strength to fight the unjust, while still managing to support each other.
“Warm, intimate and brittle, Loving is the most important film or 2016, and also one of the best.” – Manohla Dargis, NY Times
Dir: Jeff Nichols / 2016 / US / 123 min
