For decades she’s been a fashion icon in New York City. Now 93 years old, Iris is more famous than ever with a hugely successful exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art, which led to nationwide fame and a best-selling jewelry line. In Iris, the eventful life of Apfel is explored, revealing her rich history along with her modern-day life in which she touts herself an ‘octogenarian starlet’ whose influence is stronger than ever. In true Maysles fashion, Apfel is followed cinema verité style, shining a naturalistic spotlight on a colorful woman with an amazing eye for fashion, a biting sense of humor, and a remarkable outlook on life.
