Celebrate Black History Month with a powerhouse lineup: The Black Tones, Afrok with E11even (aka DJ Cool Hands Luke), and a post-show dance party with Mazigazi. All proceeds fund the 2026 Scherler Sundays free concert series

The Black Tones welcome audiences into their musical family every time they take the stage. Once you see them live, you’ve then become a part of their extended sonic kin. Founded by twins Eva and Cedric Walker, the Seattle-based rock ‘n’ roll band has grown from humble beginnings in their grandmother’s basement to receiving recognition from Guitar World, AfroPunk, KEXP, American Songwriter, Under the Radar and NPR, which said, ”The Black Tones are redefining Seattle music.”

Afrok’s latest release, A King With Words, cuts straight to the bone. It’s a raw account of love, mental health among Black men, police violence against marginalized communities, and the long grind of paying dues in Hip Hop. No filters. No trend-chasing. Just truth over beats. A veteran MC in Olympia’s Hip Hop scene, Afrok has been running with Underground Hip Hop’s elite artists for over 20 years, earning his name through bars, presence, and respect—not shortcuts. His longevity comes from standing on principle and refusing to dilute the culture. The record also exposes the darkest chapter of his life: surviving a near-death experience tied to alcohol and clawing his way out of severe addiction. Afrok doesn’t glorify the fall—he documents it. A King With Words is survival music. Scarred. Honest. Earned. This is Hip Hop from someone who’s lived every verse—and made it back to tell it.

Mazigazi Band is an Afrohouse and electro rock band that gives you a whole live dance experience.  Mazigazi is based in Olympia, WA.

Free Music Olympia is a nonprofit organization powered by Shunpike. Our mission is to provide accessible, free and all-ages concert experiences to the Olympia community while compensating musicians fairly for their work.
