Spend Halloween evening with Frank the Rabbit: James Duval will be live and in person for a special screening of Richard Kelly’s Donnie Darko! Before Stranger Things combined science fiction, Spielberg-ian thrills, and 1980s nostalgia to much acclaim, Richard Kelly set the high-water mark with this one of a kind film. Initially beset with distribution problems, it would slowly find its audience and emerge as arguably the first cult classic of the new millennium. Described by its director as “The Catcher in the Rye as told by Philip K. Dick,” Donnie Darko stars Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal, Patrick Swayze, Drew Barrymore, Mary McDonnell, Katharine Ross, and Noah Wyle – all in 4K!

About the Moderator:
Jonah Barnett used to be the marketing manager at the Olympia Film Society. If there’s a really good sh*tpost you remember from 2018-2020 it was probably them. Then they worked for a bookstore for a while. Now they work for the government, and has a file on everyone in Olympia. (It’s not looking so good!) After making too many films, Jonah switched to writing and they came out with a book called Moss-Covered Claws – which is about sad gay people running from monsters in the woods. Jonah’s film work has been featured at Northwest Film Forum, the Grand Cinema, and maybe even the Capitol Theater two or ten times.
