DAYS OF GRACE

In the Mexican thriller Days of Grace, crime, kidnappings, and the World Cup Championship take center stage. Over an eight year period in Mexico City, three different abductions make an impact on a multitude of lives. Lupe is an idealistic police detective crushed by the city’s corrupt power structure. Meanwhile, Susana is alarmed to find that she must go outside the law to vie for her kidnapped husband’s release. Finally, Iguana has dreams of a career in boxing, but is dragged into the criminal lifestyle responsible for the devastation that penetrates the city. Told in a fractured, puzzle-like narrative, each plot line is connected through the resonating presence of the annual World Cup Championships. A.O.
