Crystal Fairy is a trippy comedy about a group of thrill seekers who are traveling through the backwoods of Chile in search of an elusive high. Michael Cera plays Jamie, an American tourist who convinces three friends to accompany him on his quest for a rare cactus that is legendary for its hallucinatory effects. Jamie is a pretentious know-it-all who his companions can barely stand. It is only because o their mutual objective that they stick with him. Their direction begins to change when they pick up a fellow tourist who agrees to tag along. Crystal Fairy (Gaby Hoffmann) is the ying to Jamie’s yang.  She’s carefree and not shy about displaying her body; she’s grounded but obsesses over the end of the world. Tensions run high until the sought-after goal is reached and secrets are revealed that lead everyone involved to question their places in the universe. Betsy Sharkey of The Los Angeles Times calls Crystal Fairy “a film of free flowing and knowing instinct.”
