The Evergreen State College “Visual Music” intensive experimental animation course presents a bigscreen handcrafted free cinema show:

For the past seven summers, each year a few lucky EverGreeners have immersed themselves in the fine arts of “direct animation” – making movies without cameras by creating handcrafted imagery directly onto 16mm & 35mm film leaders via paint / scratch (and a myriad of other weird techniques). Students have 5 weeks to learn everything about the medium, then create moving masterworks for this grand finale screening. The final Thursday, August 29 @ 4pm show at Capitol Theater / Olympia Film Society features students’ 35mm film loops, graciously presented by OFS’ brilliantly professional 35mm projection – a rare opportunity for both students and viewers to excite your retinas with an utterly unique cinema experience.
