Blue Is the Warmest Color

November 29 – December 4
Mezzanine Lounge Service Opening Night 11/29

Blue Is the Warmest Color
Blue Is the Warmest Color is an epic-length romance that won the grand prize at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. Emma is 17, in high school, and has yet to fall in love. She does have a boyfriend, but Thomas does nothing much for her; this realization solidifies on the night she meets Adèle. Emma is immediately drawn to Adèle, who is artistic, avant-garde, and sports striking blue hair. When the two young women spend time together, they discover that their attraction is mutual, and soon they’re in the midst of a rapturous, physical love affair. It’s only later that reality sets in and the couple is faced with the brutal truth of real love and the complications that come with it. Divided into two chapters, Blue Is the Warmest Color is a blistering portrait of first love that is both absorbing and devastating in its artistry. Jordan Mintzer of the Hollywood Reporter calls it” a masterpiece of the genre, a near perfect film.”

Dir.: Abdellatif Kechiche / 2013 / France, Belgium, Spain / French w/ English subtitles / 179 min / Digital Cinema
