THE COUNTING PROCESS
The ballot opening and vote count was carried out by OFS staff and volunteers. The process separated the name-checking and vote-counting in order to ensure voter anonymity while still maintaining ballot
security.
The names from the ballot envelopes were checked against the OFS membership list, to ensure that nobody voted more than once and that only current members were included. This process was carried out
without opening the ballots.
There were a small number of ballots that did not clearly indicate the member’s name, but were identified with a little effort. These votes were counted.
Once all the envelopes were checked, the still-folded ballots were removed and the envelopes archived. Only once the envelopes had been archived were the ballots unfolded and checked to make sure only ones
with six votes or less were counted.

Once all the ballots had been confirmed as valid, the votes were tallied by two separate volunteers to ensure accuracy.
Thank you for helping to create a successful election–OFS members, volunteers, staff, and candidates!
Sincerely,
Paul Potasnik
Board Secretary
