A favorite at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Moonwalkers is an action-packed comedy, where a notorious conspiracy theory is revealed to be the real deal—to a point. The year is 1969 and CIA agent Kidman (Ron Perlman) has been assigned by the US government to track down director Stanley Kubrick, fresh off of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and convince him to film a version of the moon landing to quell the American public. As Kidman hangs out in swinging ‘60s London, searching for the elusive Kubrick, he crosses paths with Jonny (Rupert Grint), a seedy rock promoter. When it becomes obvious that finding Kubrick is impossible, Jonny convinces Kidman that they themselves can make the film—and a load of cash. Craziness follows as the two embark on pulling off the ultimate con in a world where filmmaking explodes into a confetti of hilarious disorder.
