From the visionary filmmaker Joon-ho Bong (The Host, Mother) comes Snowpiercer, a smart and innovative thriller that’s being touted as one of the best films of the year. Set in the near future, global warming has been exchanged for a man-made ice age, which has killed off most of humanity. The few people left survive on a perpetual motion, luxury train that continuously circles the frozen Earth. But ‘luxury’ is just a word for the passengers who endure in the overcrowded rear quarters, living in filth and subsisting on questionable gelatin bars. Meanwhile, the lucky few up front live a lavish lifestyle where their every want is fulfilled, from edible food to clean laundry. But things are about to change in this polarized societal nightmare, when a small band of the disenfranchised set out on a harrowing journey to the engine room where equality will reign in a battle to the death. With a stunningly original concept and a stellar cast, Snowpiercer is the best action film of the summer and must be seen on the big screen! A.O. Scott of The New York Times calls it “A richly satisfying, futuristic epic.”
