In the gripping Icelandic drama, RAMS, sibling rivalry results in tragic circumstances. In a secluded valley two brothers live side by side, but haven’t spoken to each other for 40 years. Gummi and Kiddi live on adjacent farms raising a rare breed of sheep, which has been a family ambition for decades. Highly competitive and steeped in animosity the bearded brothers bury their brooding in their work. When one wins a competition, which the other finds unfair, he decides to take revenge in the worst way possible – alerting the authorities that his brother’s stock may be carrying a deadly disease. As word gets out and everyone in the valley’s livelihood is threatened, the brothers must reunite in order to save the only lives they’ve ever known. A.O. Scott of the NY Times calls Rams, “a truly remarkable, eccentric work.”
