From the director of What We Do in the Shadows, Hunt for the Wilderpeople is a charmingly offbeat story set in the forests of New Zealand. Raised on hip-hop and foster homes, 13 year-old Ricky finds himself deep in the outback as a reluctant ward to an older couple. Bella is open-minded and wants to whip Ricky into shape with love and kindness. Meanwhile, Hec (Sam Neill) is irascible and prides himself a mountain man. When unexpected circumstances throw Ricky and Hec together, a raucous and hilarious adventure ensues that changes both of their lives. Kenneth Turan of the LA Times says, “Every once in a while, a small, unheralded film comes along, so smart and funny, such a pleasure to experience, you can’t believe your luck. Hunt for the Wilderpeople is such a film.”
