Wings of Desire is a romantic ode to love, longing, and the human condition. In a black & white world, high above the Earth, angels reside. Donning cool overcoats and an empathetic air, they comfort the afflicted—people living their lives in heartache on the mortal plain. Angels Damiel (Bruno Ganz) and Cassiel are assigned to post-war Berlin. They surround themselves in human thought and attempt to give consolation to distracted souls. Damiel’s world changes when he spots Marion, a beautiful trapeze artist at a crossroads in her life. Smitten, Damiel makes the daring decision to fall to Earth to be with the woman he is meant to spend eternity with. An undying masterpiece, Wings of Desire is cinematic meditation on life that only grows more luminescent as time moves on.
