MCSI PRESENTS: MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO

SUNDAY APRIL 24
Thurgood Marshall Middle School’s Citizen Science Institute presents:
MY NEIGHBOR TOTORO
11:00am doors / 12:00pm film
$11 general / $8 members
Tickets available online or at the box office one hour prior to showtime.

One of the most endearing and internationally renowned films of all time, a film that Roger Ebert called “one of the five best movies” ever made for children, My Neighbor Totoro is a deceptively simple tale of two girls, Satsuki and Mei, who move with their father to a new house in the countryside. They soon discover that the surrounding forests are home to a family of Totoros, gentle but powerful creatures who live in a huge and ancient camphor tree and are seen only by children. Based on Miyazaki’s own childhood imaginings, Totoros look like oversized pandas with bunny ears and they take the girls on spinning-top rides through the treetops and introduce them to a furry, multi-pawed Catbus — a nod to Lewis Carroll’s Cheshire Cat.

Dir: Hayao Miyazaki / 1988 / Japan / 86 min

CURRENT COVID PROTOCOLS

Upon entry, all patrons must be 5+ and show proof of full vaccination (card or photo/screenshot of card) with matching ID before entry. Fully vaccinated means 14 days or more after your second dose. No exceptions.

OFS covid protocols remain unchanged for indoor masking and proof of full vaccination for all guests, volunteers, and staff for all events in the Capitol Theater. Protocols will stay in place at least through April 30, 2022. The theater is currently selling at 100% capacity, 762 seats.

Due to the continuing COVID-19 threat, it is critical to continue protecting and supporting those individuals who are immunocompromised or medically vulnerable, or who remain concerned for their own health or the health of their family or community. OFS encourages people to be kind and compassionate to individuals, students and businesses that choose to continue wearing face masks.
