THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING

September 22, 23 & October 1, 2, 2022
THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING

$11 General Admission & $8 OFS members
Dr Alithea Binnie (Tilda Swinton) is an academic…a creature of reason. While in Istanbul, she happens to encounter a Djinn (Idris Elba) who offers her three wishes in exchange for his freedom. At first, she doubts that he is real and she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. But the Djinn pleads his case, and eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both!
Dir: George Miller / 2022 / US, Australia / 108 min

“Three Thousand Years of Longing is a glorious valentine to the power stories have to teach us about empathy and the human condition. See it in a cinema where Miller’s bold vision has the expanse needed for such an epic yet intimate tale.” – Beth Accomando, KPBS.org

“Three Thousand Years of Longing is indeed a cautionary tale, but it’s a complex, beautiful one, suggesting that love, longing, and loss are all parts of a vast, wondrous life.” – Bilge Ebiri, New York Magazine/Vulture

“It’s charming to see George Miller take a long-standing interest in the power of storytelling and craft a fairy tale that still somehow feels raw and intimate.” – Liz Shannon Miller, Consequence

SCREENING: THU 9/22 7PM; FRI 9/23 4PM; SAT 10/1 7PM; SUN 10/2 4PM

CURRENT COVID PROTOCOLS

Our top priority continues to be the safety of our audiences, artists, volunteers, staff, and the community. Beginning July 1, 2022, OFS will no longer require proof of vaccination. OFS strongly encourages and recommends when attending a performance at the Capitol Theater that all audience members wear a mask over their nose and mouth except when eating or drinking. Due to the continuing COVID-19 threat, it is critical to continue protecting and supporting those individuals who are immunocompromised or medically vulnerable, or who remain concerned for their own health or the health of their family or community. OFS encourages people to be kind and compassionate to individuals, students and businesses that choose to continue wearing face masks.

OFS management continually assesses the changing guidelines, artist contracts, and local government updates. We reserve the right to require health and safety protocols for all performances.  We will proactively communicate any change in health protocols with advance notice.

If you feel sick, have any of the following symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19, we request that you do not attend any performances:

Cough
Sore throat
Shortness of breath
Trouble breathing
Fever or chills
Loss of smell or taste

For more information, please see our operations announcement.
