Back in 2016, pop-punk sensibilities began to enter hip-hop in a serious way, and the combination of “emo rap” or “SoundCloud rap” rang off as a true underground phenomenon. Suddenly there were these young guys playing sold-out tours, crying over trap beats about heartache, depression, and drugs.

Without any label deals, songs had YouTube videos with a hundred million views. Then as quickly as the scene rose, it crashed. The deaths of its biggest stars, one after another, were catastrophic: Lil Peep (2017), XXXTentacion (2018), and JuiceWRLD (2019). Now other artists who were drawn into the eye of the storm, like fish narc—respect the lowercase—are picking up the pieces.

fish narc entered the scene from playing in bands, and then rose as a SoundCloud producer along with the subgenre until he was star-adjacent, making beats for Gothboiclique and Lil Peep (check their Goth Angel Sinner EP). After years in a supporting role, he’s front and center on his first solo album, WiLDFiRE, out now.

Patrons, performers, staff, and volunteers are no longer required to wear masks or show proof of vaccination. The threat of covid, seasonal flu, and respiratory viruses are still out there. OFS will continue to provide masks (while supplies last – we have tons), surface and hand sanitizer, and regular air filtration system maintenance. We encourage mask-wearing at concerts and indoor gatherings and keep snacking and drinking in seating areas only.

If you test positive for COVID-19, stay home for at least 5 days and isolate from others in your home to avoid spreading COVID-19 to others. If you are not feeling well, we ask that you call out for your volunteer, stay at home, and come back when you feel better to minimize the spread and to help keep others at the theater healthy and keep our operations going.
