Letter From the Executive Director
As we ring in the New Year and settle into an all too familiar wet and chilly Pacific Northwest winter, I want to make sure the soggy season and abandoned resolutions don’t get us down. If they do, OFS has just the cure! What can be more fun than cozying up with dear friends to watch great movies at the Capitol Theater? This program is packed with all time classics, intriguing documentaries, and buzz worthy Oscar predictions that you surely won’t want to miss. Step inside the theater and leave the foul weather behind!
For you Silver Screening fans; beginning February 13th this popular repertory series moves to Sunday matinee showings as well as its current Saturday matinee. In its place we are extending the newer titles to have a mid-week matinee time. How about a building update? Repair projects are carefully moving along thanks to the $22,000 in donations you contributed at the end of the year. Thanks!! Under way are water intrusion repairs on the roof and front awning, electrical upgrades, and so far, several badly needed major audio components have been purchased including a new mixing board and power amps. What a fantastic way to kick off 2016! With your help, OFS will continue to chip away at accomplishing our lengthy wish list.
You can always count on quality programming and the cheery, smiling faces of our faithful volunteers greeting you at the lobby door. We will keep the theater toasty, the popcorn buttery (and yeasty) and the coffee, beer, and cider local and tasty! Our big screen will be a ray of sunshine lit up with tons of great films to carry you through! What more do you need to survive the Washington winter? I leave you with a quote from one of my favorite women of history, Helen Keller. “Your success and happiness lies in you. Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties.”
All my best in the New Year and I’ll see you at the theater,
Audrey M. Henley
