DAISIES (1966): NEW 4K RESTORATION
Maybe the Czech New Wave’s most anarchic entry, Věra Chytilová’s absurdist farce follows the misadventures of two brash young women. Believing the world to be “spoiled,” they embark on a series of pranks in which nothing—food, clothes, men, war—is taken seriously. Daisies is an aesthetically and politically adventurous film that’s widely considered one of the great works of feminist cinema.
Restored in 4K from the original camera and sound negatives by the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in collaboration with the Národní filmový archiv, Prague and the Czech Film Fund.
CURRENT COVID PROTOCOLS
Our top priority continues to be the safety of our audiences, artists, volunteers, staff, and the community. Beginning July 1, 2022, OFS will no longer require proof of vaccination. OFS strongly encourages and recommends when attending a performance at the Capitol Theater that all audience members wear a mask over their nose and mouth except when eating or drinking. Due to the continuing COVID-19 threat, it is critical to continue protecting and supporting those individuals who are immunocompromised or medically vulnerable, or who remain concerned for their own health or the health of their family or community. OFS encourages people to be kind and compassionate to individuals, students and businesses that choose to continue wearing face masks.
OFS management continually assesses the changing guidelines, artist contracts, and local government updates. We reserve the right to require health and safety protocols for all performances. We will proactively communicate any change in health protocols with advance notice.
If you feel sick, have any of the following symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19, we request that you do not attend any performances:
Shortness of breath
Fever or chills
Loss of smell or taste
For more information, please see our operations announcement.
