PRIDE

Pride tells the true story of a group of London lesbians and gays who organized to provide support for families affected by the National Union of Mineworkers’ strike in 1984. The group struggles to find recipients for their donations and end up in a small village in Wales, setting off events that change the lives of all involved. Pride received the Queer Palm award at Cannes and its excellent cast includes Bill Nighy (Love Actually), Imelda Staunton (Vera Drake), Dominic West (The Wire) and Andrew Scott (Sherlock). Moira MacDonald of the Seattle Times raved, “It’s a feel-good movie that does more than temporarily lift your spirits—it makes you feel a little better about the world, and about our capacity to set aside differences and clasp hands.”
