To celebrate the 116th birthday of master auteur Alfred Hitchcock (August 13th), OFS SILVER SCREENINGS is proud to present Rear Window. ‘Jeff’ Jefferies (James Stewart), a photographer recovering from a broken leg, passes the time gazing out of the rear window of his apartment, observing his Greenwich Village neighbors, who leave their windows open in the sweltering summer heat. One evening, he happens to see some very odd behavior from one of them (Raymond Burr), and becomes convinced that he has killed his invalid wife. Dismissed by the authorities, he enlists his girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly) and home-care nurse (Thelma Ritter) to help him investigate the mystery. Filmgoers, critics, and scholars agree: Rear Window is Hitchcock, and cinema, at it’s very best.
