BADLANDS, Terrence Malick’s stunning directorial debut, is a cinematic fever dream about crime, love and loss. Based on a true story, Martin Sheen plays Kit, a disenchanted young man who finds his soul mate in Holly (Sissy Spacek), a 15 year old girl that sees in him a curious connection to the wide world of life that she hasn’t yet experienced. Together they escape on an adventure that drags them both outside the law and onto the road to criminal notoriety in a multi-state murder spree. Featuring mesmerizing voice-overs overlaid with Malick’s visual poetry, Badlands is a masterpiece of sound and vision created by one of the most original voices in the film world.
