Rodney Crowell is a multi-Grammy winning singer/songwriter, a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the recipient of the 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriting from the Americana Music Association. His songs have been covered and performed by an eminent group of musicians, including Van Morrison, Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Emmylou Harris, Etta James, George Strait, Tim McGraw and Bob Seger. In 1988, he became the first country artist to have five No. 1 songs off one album, the classic “Diamonds & Dirt.” His latest album, “Close Ties,” will be released March 31 on New West. The Olympia Film Society is thrilled to welcome the legendary Rodney Crowell to the Capitol Theater!

“‘Americana’ is for music that has no place to go. The place to go when you have no place to go. Louis Armstrong was Americana to me. The basis is poetry. Like the songs of Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Dylan.”
