Miss Hokusai is a beautiful anime that explores the lives of a 19th century artist and his family. The elder Hokusai is revered all over the land for his woodcut paintings of mountains and crashing waves. But there’s an underlying market where tradition is not preferred. These paintings of dragons and erotic art are made by his daughter O-Ei, and sold under her father’s name. Shy and reserved in public, O-Ei is as non traditional as her paintings when she toils away on her esoteric creations in her studio.
