Marguerite is a satirical comedy that swept the César Awards, the French equivalent of the Oscars. In 1920’s France, Marguerite Dumont is a talented opera singer — in her own mind. Her aristocratic life consists of days in rehearsal and studying her craft, in preparation for the periodic performances for friends and family who fawn over her voice as if it were magic. The only problem is that Marguerite cannot carry a tune. In fact, her voice may be one of the worst on record. No one has the courage to tell her, so she stays trapped in her sincere, deluded bubble of perplexing denial.
