Lamb

Drama

2015 / US / 96 minutes / Format: DCP

Directed by: Ross Partridge

Print Source: The Orchard

In Lamb, two lost souls connect in an unconventional relationship. It all starts in a parking lot: a preteen girl, wearing high heels and a sweatshirt, asks a middle aged man for a cigarette on a dare from her friends. Surprisingly, he gives her a smoke, and they become acquainted. Tommie is eleven years old and her dismissive parents hardly care where she is. David is in his late 40’s and should know better, but he sees something in the girl that he can relate to. As their apprehensive bond develops, motives are naturally questioned. They meet in the parking lot after school. They keep each other company, as each clings to the other in their cold, stark realties. When he asks her to go on a road trip, and she agrees, the dynamic of their friendship changes, as they both must come to terms with the truth of the real world. Fred Scheck of the Hollywood Reporter calls Lamb “a deeply intriguing psychological drama that should inspire much spirited debate.”
