Directed by Chuck Russell (Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors) and co-written by Frank Darabont (Walking Dead), 1988’s The Blob is one of the few remakes to actually surpass the original. In a tiny California town, high school student Meg (Shawnee Smith), along with friends Brian (Kevin Dillon) and Paul (Donovan Leitch) discover a strange, gelatinous substance that melts the flesh of any living creatures in its path. The deadly space goo finds its way into the town’s sewer system, where it begins growing to gargantuan proportions, occasionally emerging to feast on unsuspecting townspeople. Featuring some of the most intensely entertaining and inventive kill sequences of the 80’s, along with a very high level of gore, The Blob is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser!
