Rhodes Scholar, humanities professor, author, and host of “The Thomas Jefferson Hour” on PBS each Sunday evening, Clay Jenkinson will appear in character and in costume as Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence, third President of the Unitized States, purchaser of the Louisiana Territory and sponsor of the Lewis & Clark expedition. President Jefferson will speak on “The Democratic Impulse.” Clay Jenkinson has presented at the White House on a number of occasions and was awarded the first National Humanities Medal by President George Bush in 1994.  He was also the first public humanities scholar to present a program at the White House when he appeared as Thomas Jefferson at a gathering hosted by President and Mrs. Clinton. When award-winning humanities documentary producer Ken Burns turned his attention to Thomas Jefferson, he asked Clay Jenkinson to be the major humanities commentator. Jenkinson has also served as a commentator on many other Ken Burns projects, including “The Roosevelts”. Be inspired, be entertained, be educated, be spellbound by this incredible presentation by President Thomas Jefferson!
