Experimenter is the true story of a social psychologist and the effects of his controversial experiments designed to measure conformity, conscience and free will. In 1961, Stanley Milgram (Peter Sarsgaard) conducted the “obedience experiments” that observed the responses of ordinary people asked to send harmful electrical shocks to a stranger. The results were both groundbreaking and disconcerting and haunted Milgram’s remaining days. Experimenter adds humor and a sly, knowing narrative that is clever and intensely revealing.
