A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT

January 23 – 29

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night

Icy cool and shot in placid black and white, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is the most inventive and dreamy take on the vampire genre, since Only Lovers Left Alive. Gliding on her skateboard, enshrouded in a flowing black chador, the Girl roams, Bad City in the dark of night searching for victims, and something more. The more arrives in the form of a guy. Arash resembles an Iranian James Dean, right down to his moody stance and leather jacket. A complicated dance of chemistry and indecision envelops the air, as The Girl holds back from the inevitable in the name of perplexing love. Meanwhile there are more deserving victims to stalk in the dead of night in Bad City. Manohla Dargis of the New York Times calls this film “a fresh and exciting re-imagining of a well-worn oft-told genre.”
