THE WAVE

April 23 – 27

THE WAVE

Dir: Roar Uthaug / 2016 / Norway / Norwegian with English subtitles / 104 min / DCP

THE WAVE is Norway’s foray into the disaster thriller genre. Geiranger is a spectacular tourist draw with a towering mountain overlooking the village. It is also a place where cataclysm could strike at any moment. After dedicating years to the town’s warning center geologist Kristian is leaving town. But on the very day his family is set to move to the big city the worst thing that can happen does. Well-acted and blessed with a refreshingly humanistic focus, The Wave is a disaster film that makes uncommonly smart use of disaster film clichés. John Hartl of The Seattle Times calls The Wave “an exhilarating nail-biter.”

SCREENING: SAT 4/23 6:30; TUE 4/26 6:30; WED 4/27 4:00; WED 4/27 9:00
