Mike Myers makes his directorial debut with this homage of a documentary centered on the life of longtime Hollywood insider Shep Gordon, who happened upon his career of music and entertainment management fresh out of college with the help of Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, and Jim Morrison. A mixture of archival footage and interviews with Shep and the celebrities who know him most intimately, Supermensch is a celebration of popular culture and a figure who was critical to the organization of it all. Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times calls it “light, frenetic, and anecdote-rich.”
